Who does SPAN's Caregiver Support Program benefit?

• A spouse or adult child providing care to a loved one.

• The friend or neighbor who looks in on an elderly individual.

• 51% of caregivers are employed full-time and 12.3% are employed part time.

• Caregivers for persons 65 or older spend an average of 20 hours per week providing care to that individual

• 31% of those caring for persons aged 65 and older describe their own health as "fair to poor."

• The estimated cost of caregiving in terms of lost productivity for businesses is $11.4 billion annually.

• Approximately 50% of primary caregivers provide care with no outside assistance.
